This fence was torn apart by the destructive forces of Hurricane Irma to reveal the stunning majesty that lies within. I’ve discovered that sometimes pain comes into our life to tear open the walls we built to protect ourselves so we can share our beauty with the world again. While certainly painful, I have great gratitude for those painful times. Other times we do the work to learn to love ourselves more... tearing down the wall of lies that contains us to allow our hearts to be able to finally expand and share the unique song your heart sings... not just a few lines. May you let your heart become so big that the walls that were built out of...
On this morning's grateful walk,
I found gratitude
for the wind
giving necessary resistance
for the birds to fly.
I thanked the wind for reminding me that
sometimes I need resistance in my life
to fly to new heights
and also providing me
with a supportive push forward
when I am in the flow.
May today find you
flying to new heights
providing new yet deeper perspective
to the beauty of life.

On my grateful walk with Bella, I noticed two hearts looking a little bruised and worn. I thought about how my heart has felt the same way and then looked at Bella to discover she had been digging for treasure again. Bella reminded me that:
Dirt on the outside has no effect on the beauty on the inside
May today you remember that the
polluting expectations
grimy behaviors
and
cruddy words
of others
cannot change
the beauty of your soul.
Wash off the muddy energy
and allow
the beauty of you
to shine through again.
Wishing you a day connecting to your true beauty and may gratitude overflow your heart.

When I turned around from taking this picture of the sunrise on our morning grateful walk, I noticed several police cars surrounding around twenty men near the picnic bench where Bella hunts for iguanas. As everyone was peaceful, I wondered if there had been an accident but it turned out that these men had just arrived in a tiny, homemade boat from Cuba. A man shared that as they came ashore they yelled out in celebration and someone called the police. As I stood in awe of the courage, faith and hope these men shared together as they risked their lives through 90 miles of the recent stormy seas to find a way out of oppression, a man in his...
On our recent grateful walks,
I’ve been feeling blessed to see
rainbows several days in a row.
I thought about how rainbows are formed by
light reflecting off the inside of a droplet of rain
allowing the human eye to see
the different wavelengths of beauty
that exist inside every drop of water.
It reminds me that even though we are all
small droplets in this sea of life,
when we shine our inner light,
transformations of beauty
happen right before our eyes.
May today find you
shining your light
and resonating with
wavelengths of beauty
so powerful
that tears of joy fill your eyes
and gratitude overflows your heart.
